Every Year in January, the Consumer Electronics Show popularly called CES is organized by Consumer Technology Association at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Winchester, Nevada, USA. Held since 1967, CES is the place where new technologies and products are launched. The internet is filled with articles on the CES 2025 highlights in various categories, but after a thorough analysis, I have compiled a list of products that are truly unique and innovative.
So here’s my list of the Most innovative products showcased at CES 2025.
1. Lenovo ThinkBook Plus Gen 6- Rollable Laptop
Since the Last few years, we have seen how foldable mobiles have become quite a trend, especially because there has been nothing significantly new in the smartphone space. Now a somewhat similar innovation which was a concept till recently has been brought to reality by Lenovo. The Lenovo ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 was one of the most unique products launched in CES 2025 let alone in the laptops category. It is just like a normal 14” Laptop except that it is not so normal. At the click of a button, the motors start to whir and out comes the additional display real estate. The OLED screen goes from 14” to 16.7” tall in about 10 secs, and the resolution goes from 2000×1600 to 2000×2350. Going back to 14” rolls the bottom of the screen to below the keyboard deck displaying black pixels in order to not waste power. As per Lenovo, the Thinkbook was thoroughly tested and rated for at least 30,000 closings and openings of its lid hinge and 20,000 rolls both up and down.
It comes at an enormous price of $3499 and will be available by June.
2. Swippitt- Phone Toaster
As per their website, Swippitt is an Instant Power System designed to double the lifespan of your phone’s battery and power your day in just 2 seconds. Popularly called the “Phone Toaster” this is a quirky device, but just how does it do this? So, Switppitt consists of 3 things, the Hub, the Link and the App.
The Link is basically a battery case for the phone. The hub can store maximum 5 batteries and keeps charging them. First you attach the link to your phone, and keep using it, till the link’s battery dries up. Now, since you need immediate power, you just insert your phone in the hub, where it automatically detaches the existing battery from the link and replaces it with another battery. Since the replaced battery already has power, it now keeps charging your phone, like any other Battery case, and the detached battery keeps charging in the hub for next use.
The App shows the status of the batteries of hub and link, allows you to limit the charging of your phone’s battery to 80 percent to extend its lifespan, dictating certain times of day to charge your phone, and more. Because it uses a mechanical process to swap external batteries, Swippitt works with any phone as long as there’s a case designed for it. That way, a single hub can serve a whole household of people with different phone models. Switppitt says that they’ve designed it with some wiggle room to keep the hub and batteries all compatible even if phones continue getting bigger in the coming years.
Currently accepting preorders at a CES special lower price, the retail price for hub will be 450$ and each link 120$ (currently only available are iphone links). So, what do you think? Is this is a need in todays digital lifestyle or Is it a gimmick few will go for ? We will soon know when Swippitt starts shipping in June 2025.
3. NVIDIA DIGITS: Personal AI Supercomputer
The leading chipmaker, NVIDIA showcased it’s Project Digits, this AI personal Supercomputer can sit on a desk, run on standard power outlet and can handle AI models up to 200 billion parameters. As per NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang “AI will be mainstream in every application for every industry. With Project Digits, the Grace Blackwell Superchip comes to millions of developers. Placing an AI supercomputer on the desks of every data scientist, AI researcher and student empowers them to engage and shape the age of AI.”
Each System has 128GB of unified memory, upto 4TB NVMe storage and is powered by GB10 Grace Blackwell Superchip, a system-on-a-chip (SoC) that delivers up to 1 petaflop of AI performance at FP4 precision (which helps make the calculations faster by making approximations). This will enable users to develop, fine-tune, and deploy large-scale AI models directly from their desktops, bring AI hardware to the consumers. The system features Nvidia’s latest-generation CUDA cores and fifth-generation Tensor Cores connected via NVLink-C2C to a Grace CPU containing 20 power-efficient Arm-based cores. The Superchip is developed in collaboration with MediaTek and offers efficiency, high performance and connectivity while operating on standard electrical outlets. The System is also scalable, where two DIGITS systems could connect via NVIDIA ConnectX® networking to handle up to 405 billion parameters.
Project DIGITS starts at 3000$ and will be available by May 2025 and it will bring AI supercomputing within reach for a broader audience.
4. Electric Salt Spoon
If you are looking to reduce your intake of salt but still want to keep it’s taste, the Electric Salt Spoon is just the product for you. This product by Japanese company Kirin, uses electrodes to electrify your tongue to give you a little salty shock. It passes a small electric current to “concentrate sodium ion molecules on the tongue,” enhancing salty flavor.
The technology was developed by Kirin in partnership with Professor Homei Miyashita from Japan’s Meiji University School of Science and Technology.
5. Roborock Saros Z70- A Robot Vacuum with a Robotic Arm
Roborock introduced the Saros series, which features the first mass-market robot vacuum with a robotic arm. “Saros” is an astronomical term for the cycle of 18 years and 11 days used to predict solar and lunar eclipses.
The Saros Z70 boasts 22000Pa suction power, is 8cm ultra slim in size which allows it to roll under the furniture, it can also lift itself 10mm to cross doorways and carpets. But what caught everyones eyes at CES 2025 was the Omnigrip arm it had, which enables it to grab things like socks, towels, tissues and more. You can use the Obstacle Definition feature in the app to note 50 different objects, tailoring the vacuum’s recognition capabilities to your unique home.
The Z70 does one run through the room to clean and identify stray objects, then returns to move the obstacles and clean the previously blocked spot. It can do a third lap through the room to move an object to another location, like a dirty laundry basket or a toy chest.
The price of this product is not known yet, and it is expected to be released sometime in 2025.
6. Mudra Link: Turn Gestures into Action
Another interesting device launched this CES was the Mudra Link neural wristband from the company wearable devices, it turns your hand into a mouse or a keyboard allowing to control devices through gestures. This is done through Neural input technology, which has Surface Nerve Conductance sensors, that detects the neural signals transmitted from the brain to the hand and converts them into digital commands, isn’t that super cool, just like what we see in movies like Iron Man. It also includes an accelerometer and a gyroscope for precise gesture detection.
As per Wearable Devices,” your brain sends signals in the form of electric currents to your hand, and our sensors detect those signals”. Wearable Devices has currently released a Mudra Band for the Apple Watch, it enables users to interact with other Apple devices. Within few days, the company will officially launch Mudra Link and expand compatibility to Windows, Android, iOS, and macOS devices. The band will also function as a controller for TCL’s RayNeo smart glasses.
The connectivity of the wristband to a compatible device is via Bluetooth, the band is made from biocompatible silicon, and features a nylon fabric adjustment strap, it also includes stainless steel electrodes. It allows to easily switch between mouse and keyboard mode with the click of a button.
The Link is available for preorder at 199$ with estimated shipping in Jan 2025, and the band for Apple watch is available for 299$ to be shipped within 7-14 business days.
7. Ugreen Nexode- World’s first 500W charger
With our lives and devices getting more and more power hungry, a charger that could provide 500W is a healthy upgrade. The switch from older silicon transistors to more efficient gallium nitride technology has spurred things along dramatically for Chargers. Now UGreen unveiled the first 500W GaN charger in this year’s CES. Their previous most powerful desktop charger was a 300W Nexode.
This 500W of power is pushed out through six USB ports, 5 USB-C and 1 USB-A port. Out of the 5, one USB-C port supports up to 240W output, while the other 4 USB-C ports each offer up to 100W, and the USB-A provides a maximum output of 20W.
As per UGreen, the charger is “powerful enough even for large, power-hungry devices like e-bikes.” The new Nexode incorporates the USB-C Power Delivery 3.1 protocol to enable fast charging capabilities and safety features like overcharge and overheating protection.
The 500W Nexode will be available sometime in March 2025.
